Kylah’s senior portrait session was especially meaningful to me because I’ve known her since she was a baby! I’ve had the joy of photographing her every year as she grew up, and being able to photograph her high school senior portraits was such a special full-circle moment. It’s hard to believe that the little girl I first photographed is now a beautiful young woman getting ready for her next chapter!

For Kylah’s senior portraits, we wanted to create a session that truly reflected her personality, interests, and passions.
Since acting and drama have always been important to Kylah, she wanted to include the theatre at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek, CA, as one of her photo locations. I absolutely loved this idea!
Your high school years are about so much more than classes and grades. They’re also about discovering your passions, building friendships, and finding the things that make you feel most like yourself. Photographing Kylah in the theatre was a wonderful way to document an important part of her high school experience and celebrate her love of performing arts.
I love when seniors incorporate meaningful locations into their sessions. Whether it’s the school theatre, a sports field, a dance studio, or another favorite spot on campus, these personal touches make senior portraits so much more meaningful.
Outdoor Senior Portraits with Beautiful East Bay Hills
After photographing Kylah at Northgate High School, we headed outdoors to capture portraits with the beautiful rolling hills of the East Bay as our backdrop.
Walnut Creek and the surrounding East Bay have so many gorgeous locations for senior portraits! I love using the natural landscape, beautiful light, and open spaces to create portraits that feel relaxed, timeless, and full of personality.
Outdoor senior pictures are a wonderful way to capture a different side of your senior. The combination of natural scenery and beautiful light creates a classic look that you’ll love looking back on for years to come.
Glamorous Studio Senior Portraits
To finish Kylah’s senior portrait experience, we headed to my portrait photography studio in downtown Walnut Creek for some glamorous studio portraits.
One of my favorite things about combining outdoor and studio photography is the variety it offers. Outdoor portraits feel natural and effortless, while studio portraits give us the opportunity to create something a little more polished, glamorous, and editorial.
From the meaningful setting of her high school theatre to the beautiful East Bay hills and glamorous studio portraits, Kylah’s senior session gave us three distinct looks that beautifully captured different sides of her personality.

Celebrating a Special Milestone
Having photographed Kylah every year since she was a baby, this session was particularly emotional for me. Getting to watch my young clients grow up is one of the greatest privileges of being a portrait photographer.
Over the years, I’ve photographed babies who have grown into toddlers, children who have become teenagers, and now many of those same kids are graduating from high school and preparing to head off to college.
Time really does fly!
Kylah’s senior portraits are more than just photographs to mark the end of high school. They’re a celebration of the young woman she has become, her passion for acting and drama, and all the exciting opportunities waiting for her in the future.
